Aim. -To evaluate the effect of the anaerobic exercise on the enzymatic antioxidant status in judoka's and sedentary subjects. Methods.-Ten mate judokas (age: 18.1 +-1.6years; weight: 77.2+-11.6kg; height: 176.4+-4.6cm) and ten sedentary subjects (age: 19.5+-1.7 years; weight: 71.8+-2.5kg; height: 175.9 +- 1.7cm) had made the Wingate test. Blood samples were taken, by an intravenous catheter, at rest (R), immediately after the Wingate test (PO) then 5 (P5), 10 (P10) then 20 (P20) min later. The measured parameters are: the superoxide dismutase (SOD), the glutathion peroxidase (GPx) and the total antioxidant statute (SAT). Results. -The concentration of the SOD in judokas increased significantly (P<0. 05) at PO and regained the baseline values at P20, the same in the sedentary at PO except that SOD concentration did not regain the baseline values at P20. In judokas' plasma, GPx's concentration increased significantly (P<0.05) in PO; in P10, GPx reached the baseline values. In sedentary plasma, GPx's concentration increased significantly (P<0.05) from PO to P20. No significant effect of the anaerobic exercise was observed on the SAT's concentration. At rest, the judokas had concentration of SOD, GPx and SAT significantly higher than that of sedentary. Conclusion. -The anaerobic exercise modifies the activity of the antioxidant enzymes with different kinetics. Judokas have better antioxidant capacity than sedentary.
