Eurofer opposes EC proposal on emissions scheme

The new proposal by the European Commission on the EU Emissions Trading Scheme can “jeopardize steel production, jobs and growth in Europe,” according to Eurofer, the European steelmakers association. Eurofer said the new proposal will bring more additional costs even to the most efficient mills in the continent, costs not borne by their global competitors.
