A Model of Invasion as Exemplified by the Predator-Prey System

Accidental introduction or immigration of alien species into stable ecosystems became a global phe-nomenon in the second half of the 20th century. The spread of various hydrobionts to habitats previously untypical of them (biological invasions) alters the diversity of the aboriginal flora and fauna and changes the structure of communities and trophic interactions between their components. Studies on this problem presented, e.g., at the Second International Sympo-sium (Chuzherodnye vidy v golarktike, 2005) only ascertain that the immigrant species appear and spec-ulate, with a certain degree of probability, on the causes of their adaptation.
