摘要

An experiment was conducted at Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, during 2001-02 to study the effect of foliar application of 2,4-D (10-3, 10-6 and 10-9 M) on various growth components including root and shoot length, number of leaves and number of branches per plant, fresh and dry weight of root and shoots of mustard or oilseed rape (Brassica campestris var. oleifera). 2,4-D was applied after 1, 3, 5 and 7 weeks from mean germination date. A significant effect on growth parameters was observed when 10-3 M 2,4-D was sprayed on the plants 3 to 5 weeks from the germination date. The application of 2,4-D at 10-6 M also enhanced the growth parameters such as plant height, number of branches per plant, and dry and fresh shoot and root weights. Therefore, foliar application of 2,4-D is useful in enhancing the growth of mustard..
