Electronic speed limiters would improve roadway safety: study

Washington - Electronically limiting commercial trucks' speed can improve roadway safety, according to a recent Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration study.Researchers from the American Transportation Research Institute and Virginia Tech Transportation Institute examined data collected between2007 and 2009 from more than 15,000 crashes involving trucks. They found that companies that installed electronic speed limiters had only 11 crashes per 100 trucks, compared with 16.4 crashes per 100 trucks for cornpa-nies without the limiters.
