California agricultural labor relations between farm owner and farm worker have a unique dynamic that is driven by a tumultuous and distrustful history.1 This mutual relationship of skepticism was seeded in the fields of California, and at one point,rose to the office of the President of the United States.2 The parties to the disputes are highly affluent and profitable agri-businesses versus influential and powerful unions with the poorest workers in the state, farm workers, wedged in the middle.
