Washington - At press time, Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety was the latest group to file comments with federal transportation officials in opposition of a cross-border trucking project. In a nine-page letter submitted April 8, the Washington-based alliance asked the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to halt the pilot program and said the agency has allowed safety issues to persist since the program began in September. AHAS was the only group that submitted comments during an extended public comment period regarding data and information on safety audits for motor carriers that applied to participate in the program.
