Extracting Broken Intramedullary Femoral Nails

Removal of broken metalworkfragments can be challenging. Technical problems faced in extracting the loose distal fragments of tibial and femoral nails are not uncommon. Various methods have been described to extract fragments of broken intramedullary nails both for the femur and the tibia. This article presents a simple and unique technique of using a long sigmoidoscopy forceps to extract the loose distal fragment of hollow femoral nails.
