EASTERN ONTARIO CHAROLAIS BREEDERS Brian and Heather Coughlin started using a new selection tool for their herd in the past year, to satisfy a local niche market. The demand comes from a production chain in Quebec looking for bulls whose DNA istestedfor meat tenderness, among other criteria. The production chain markets specialty beef into select butcher shops across Quebec. It is supplied by 300 Quebec herds. All 300 of these herds need DNA-profiled bulls to suit the program's market requirements.
