Phenotypic identification of bacterium of genus Acinetobacter of one of two genomic species Acinetobacter Baumannii and Acinetobacter genomic species 3 comprises: conducting two ability tests of the bacterium to grow in hydromineral culture medium comprising vitamins and amino acids; and determining the presence of Acinetobacter Baumannii and the presence of Acinetobacter genomic species 3. Phenotypic identification of bacterium of the genus Acinetobacter of one of two genomic species Acinetobacter Baumannii and Acinetobacter genomic species 3 comprises: conducting two ability tests of the bacterium to grow in a hydromineral culture medium comprising vitamins and amino acids, where the culture medium is unsuitable for the bacterial growth, a single compound is added in the culture medium, the single compound is a source of carbon and energy compounds comprising D(-) ribose, D(+) xylose and trigonelline, and the each test being conducted with the same culture medium and a compound of different carbon source; and determining the presence of Acinetobacter Baumannii, (when the bacterial growth is observed with at least two compounds i.e. carbon and energy source), and the presence of Acinetobacter genomic species 3 (when there is no bacterial growth with at least two compounds of carbon and energy source). An independent claim is included for a kit for phenotypic identification of bacterium of the genus Acinetobacter of one of two genomic species Acinetobacter Baumannii and Acinetobacter genomic species 3 for the implementation of the method comprising at least three, preferably three support comprising a different compound comprising D(-) ribose, D(+) xylose and trigonelline, and the culture medium unsuitable for the bacterial growth.
