The problem of alternate bearing was one of the major themes discussed at the Congress where Dr Dixon was one of four New Zealand scientists to address delegates. Dr Dixon said that over the past four years the New Zealand avocado industry research programme had a major focus on understanding alternate bearing of avocados. Below, Dr Dixon has summarised for the Orchardist his paper presented at the Congress.
