Production of Three-Dimensional Images by Using a Selectogram Recorded in a Thick-Layer Photosensitive Medium

A special method of obtaining three-dimensional holograms is considered. An object wave is filtered with a horizontal slit and then split into two components by a diffraction grating placed in front of a photosensitive medium. It is shown that a three-dimensional structure produced by recording the interference pattern formed by these components of an object wave has the ability to reconstruct a 3D image of an object when illuminated with radiation scattered by a diffuse screen. This recording method is called a referenceless selectogram. Results of experiments on recording referenceless selectograms are presented. In these experiments, two types of thick-layer photosensitive media were used, namely, rheoxane and gelatin. Rheoxane represents a polymer matrix 1 mm thick with anthracene, sensitizer, and oxygen dissolved in it. A bichromized gelatin represents a gel covered from two sides with glass plates. In the experiments, the thickness of this photosensitive layer ranged from 1 to 3 mm.
