摘要

The mechanism of sorption of the elements from group IIA on the 4-(benzylcellu-lose)-5-azo-8-8-hydroxyquinoline chelating sorbent has been investigated. The data obtained from the dependence of the distribution coefficients on pH, as well as from isotherms, showed that physical sorption is accompanied by chemical sorption, chemosorption being predominant for Mg(II), Ca(II), Sr(II), Ba(II)- to varying extents -, while adsorption occurs preferentially for Be(II). The modifications occurring in the IR and electronic reflexion spectra lead to the conclusion that chemical sorption involves formation of chelates without the participation of the azo group. The sorbent's selectivity arranges the elements taken into study in the following order: Mg(II)>Ca(II)>Sr(II)>Ba(II)Be(II) - to varying extents -, while adsorption occurs preferentially for Be(II).
