ALREADY ACTIVE IN the Middle East,Norway's thriving oil and gas development industries are keen to do more business wherever challenging offshore conditions in particular,present themselves.And 'challenge' to the Norwegians means working in the toughest conditions on earth: in deep hostile seas where antifreeze has to be used routinely; on 'mature' deposits where costly tail-end production is the norm; and right up against international boundaries (as with Russia in the Barents Sea today) where toe-treading has to be avoided at all costs.Set against working conditions like these developing and producing energy in North Africa and the Gulf is relatively easy.
