Continuous 4-1BB co-stimulatory signals for the optimal expansion oftumor-infiltrating lymphocytes for adoptive T-cell therapy.

Co-stimulation through members of the tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNFR)family appears to be critical for the generation of T cells with optimaleffector-memory properties for adoptive cell therapy. Our work suggests thatcontinuous 4-1BB/CD137 co-stimulation is required for the expansion of T cellswith an optimal therapeutic profile and that the administration of 4-1BB agonistsupon adoptive cell transfer further improves antitumor T-cell functions.
