Spanish, Portuguese Firms Join Brazil's Floating LNG Joint Venture

Spain's Repsol YPF and Portugal's Galp have joined a joint venture that is developing plans to build a floating LNG liquefaction facility to process gas from Brazil's subsalt zone. The joint venture was initially set up in November by Brazilian state energy giant Petrobras and BG, as they seek ways to monetize potentially huge gas reserves from the Tupi field, which lies 300 kilometers off Brazil's southeast coast (OD Nov.18,p1).
