Australia-listed Exoma Energy said onFriday it has spudded the Saltern-1 wellin the Galilee Basin in central Queenslandin a joint venture with China NationalOffshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC).The well in ATP 1008P — one of fivecoalbed methane (CBM) and shale gaspermits awarded to the two firms — is thefirst to be drilled in a 12-well explorationprogram. It has a planned depth of 900meters, and a primary objective of CBMin the Permian Betts Creek and Aramaccoal measures. It will also test for shalegas in the Toolebuc formation.
