China goes on an overseas spending spree

With its ever-increasing reliance on imports of oil and gas, China is stepping up purchases of reserves and production overseas. This year looks like being the most significant so far in terms of deals done and money spent. The country's four main national oil companies have so far spent $10 bn on foreign oil and gas deals this year.
