The U.S. Gulf jackup market is showing signs of a slight rebound as demand picks up. However, utilization will have to firm up considerably before contractors can comfortably push day rates. The floater market remains tight with current chartering activity consisting primarily of sublets. USA GULF OF MEXICO: LLOG has an outstanding jackup requirement for a shallow water rig to drill multiple wells in Main Pass Block 107. The operator is looking at a late first quarter or early second quarter spud date. It is understood LLOG had contacted Blake Offshore about awarding the program to jackup Blake 303, however contract terms were never finalized. LLOG is looking to drill as many as eight wells in the Main Pass area, and will require a jackup capable of working in at least 52 feet of water. Currently, LLOG has one jackup under firm commitment, ENSCO's ENSCO 60, through late February.
