Marketed utilization within the floater sector remains at last month's 100 per cent mark so far in May. No net change in the floater fleet is expected this year; however, a 1.4 unit deficit is expected by the end of the year. Marketed utilization of contracted jackups continues to show improvement, having reached 94.5 per cent so far this month, up from 87 per cent in April. Demand is forecast to wane slightly during the second quarter before returning to previous levels for the rest of 2008. CANADA: Canadian Superior has taken expressions of interest for the provision of an HPHT independent-leg, harsh environment jackup to undertake one well and one or more option wells, in water depths of 75 to 100 msw (246 to 328 fsw). The rig must be capable of year-round operations offshore Nova Scotia. Project commencement is targeted for early 2009. The program covers exploration work on the Scotian Shelf, and the proposed drilling locations are in or near Exploration Licences 2409 and 2415, around 300 km southeast of Halifax.
