Catering for the offshore industry--some food for thought

Food and housekeeping services onboard an offshore rig are rarely mentioned in oil and gas publications, even though these underpin the health and productivity of the crew and can do wonders for morale. In this issue, we take a closer look at how the catering system works in the offshore industry, and for mobile offshore drilling rigs in particular. Aspects that will be discussed are: companies that provide offshore catering services, how catering contracts are structured, the costs involved, the catering crew and the challenges of operating offshore.
