Museum of Lacquer Ar presents the founders fo its collection

Munster, Germany. From Kandinsky Jawlensky and Braque to the most exquisite Meissen porcelain: from Far Eastern lacquer art to German expres-sionism - this is the span the special exhibition "Founders of our Collection" is going to cover. It will be presented at the Museum of Lacquer Art from October 28, 2001 to January 6, 2002. This special show has been organized to honor the centennial birthday of Dr Kurt Herberts (1901-1989) and Dr. Erich Zschocke (1901-1978). These two entrepreneurs of the German paint industry were privately devoted to art and each of them set up a collection independently of each other by collec-ting Asian and European lacquer items. Through the acquisition of the Herbol works Herbig Haarhaus in 1968 and the acquisition of Dr. Herberts' collection, the two valuable collections finally came into the possession of BASF. In 1993 the collections were presented to the public by exhibiting the objects at the Museum of Lacquer Art in Munster, Germany.
