Results of the investigation into an effect of increasing iron content on the physical and mechanical properties and the structure of cobalt sinters obtained by conventional technology are presented. The materials examined contained 3, 6, 10, 15 and 25 percent iron. It was found that an increase of iron content from 5 to 15 percent resulted in deterioration of the strength of sinters, and the highest plasticity had those with an addition of 6 percent Fe. At higher iron content, plasticity of the sinters was significantly worse. Mixtures of the basic powders were pressed and sintered, and the sinters obtained had a fine-grained structure. It was also found that an increase of iron content resulted in greater grain size.
