UMMC INVESTS 80 percent MORE IN GAISKY MINING UNIT IN 2005

YEKATERINBURG. (Interfax) - The Urals Mining and Metallurgical Company (UMMC) invested 1.202 billion rubles in its Gaisky GOK copper mining division in 2005, 80 percent more than in 2004. UMMC said on March 2 that it spent 382.5 million rubles on developing deep (670-830 meters) and super-deep (830-1,310 meters) horizons at the underground mine. In 2005, Gaisky GOK built conveyor galleries at the mine and overhauled mine shafts, as well as acquired new mining equipment. UMMC also invested 304.5 million rubles in the development of the Osennyeye deposit, building stripping installations and buying special equipment.
