摘要

MOSCOW. (Interfax) - Canada's Barrick Gold, the world's biggest gold producer, wants to produce concentrate at a deposit in Russia's Murmansk region and process it at MMC Norilsk Nickel plants on the Kola Peninsula. Preliminary capital expenditures on the project to develop the Fedorova Tundra deposit will total 639 million dollars (+/- 25 percent), according to a presentation of the Canadian company's letter of intent. The project is being implemented by Fedorovo Resources. Starting in 2010, Barrick expects to mine 150,000 tonnes of concentrate per year for 13 years at two mines, at the Western Fedorova and Eastern Fedorova ore bodies. The concentrate is expected to contain 6.7 percent nickel and copper and 98 grams of platinum group metals per tonne.
