Roy explained that this last year saw the election of an almost completely new Council and he thanked all of the members who stood for election and have worked tirelessly over the last 12 months for the Society. The Society faces significant challenges, which were summarised in the presentation as acting President at the 2009 AGM. Health and Safety (H&S) is an ever more pressing priority for us, and it is vital that the Society and its members adhere to the highest standards in order to preserve the "special relationship" which we enjoy with quarry operators up and down the country. The Council, and in particular our Vice-President, Christine Critchley focussed on Health and Safety as the first priority for the new Team, and after a lot of hard work we now have a coherent set of Health and Safety documentation which has been rolled-out to the Branches.
