As the competitors count down to the start of the XXXIII Olympiad in Paris in July, broadcasters around the world are doing the same. But for France Televisions, a home Games adds extra excitement. The broadcaster has been marking each milestone on the road to Paris since the announcement, back in 2017, that it would be the host city. When the countdown reached one year, it employed a brand new way of working: from a boat in the middle of the Seine. The hyper-mobile production workflow utilised TVU Networks' cloud solutions for production, remote collaboration, intercom and mix-minus management, the TVU RPS One for synchronised multi-camera live content capture, and 5G networks plus two Starlink Maritime units for transmission and data aggregation. "The programme wasn't a usual production because we were on a boat," explains Romauld Rat, TechLab director at France Televisions. "First, we had to deal with the connectivity issue. It was quite a short discussion because we are used to using TVU's 5G technology. In fact, we've been using it since the beginning of 2022 when Starlink arrived in in France. We use it every week for different productions."
