The reaction of 3-(1-adamantyl)-1-chloro-2-propanone with amines [diethylamine, (1-adamantyl) methylamine, p-toluidine, and piperidine] in diethyl ether at room temperature involves the Favorskii rearrangement and yields N,N-disubstituted amides of 3-(1-adamantyl) propanoic acid.
