Synthesis of Optically Active alpha-Hydroxyalkylphosphonates

摘要

Reactions of tri-(1R,2S,5R)-menthyl phosphite I [1]with arylcarboxylic chlorides yield dimenthyl aroylphosphonates II.Their reduction with sodium borohydride proceeds with asymmetric induction at the alpha-carbon atom and yields optically active alpha-Hydroxyalkylphosphonates IIIa-IIIc (method a).
