Spectral Technics for Identifying Tanning Agents in the Heritage Leather Items

The work presents some spectral techniques used to identify the tanning agents in the leather samples collected from heritage items.The information is provided by FT-IR,UV-VIS and FS (fluorescence) spectral domains and by chemiluminescence analysis -for their antioxidant activity.Coroboration of these spectral methods allowed the assignment of composition and structural characteristics of some heritage leather items and the interpretation of their long durability in time.
