The extended recession scenario would result in a 4.0% increase in NR consumption to 9.93 million tonnes in 2010, compared to the 9.0% growth rate envisaged in the base case, according to the estimates made by IRSG. SR consumption would rise by 10.3% to 13.10 million tonnes in 2010, compared to an 18.1% increase to 14.02 million tonnes in the base case. In 2011, with more rapid economic growth under the extended recession scenario, consumption growth would be marginally higher than in the base case for both NR and SR.
