IRSG forecasts 5.3% increase in rubber consumption

The International Rubber Study Group forecasts total rubber consumption will increase 5.3% to 27.3 million metric tons this year. In 2014, demand is expected to rise by a further 5.8% to 28.9 mmt. The IRSG says that world natural rubber consumption is forecast to rise by 5.9% to 11.6 mmt in 2013, and world NR demand is expected to increase by a further 6.1% to 12.3 mmt in 2014. World synthetic rubber consumption is forecast to rise by 4.9% to 15.7 mmt in 2013, and increase a further 5.6% to 16.6 mmt next year.
