Bringing glory to RRII working in remote regions

A Scientist ever working in India's remote regions without much living facilities and far away from the Rubber Research Institute of India Headquarters (RRH) in Kottayam, Dr. Soman has added to the glory of institute by his outstanding invention of the root trainer planting technique. He joined the RRH as a Research Assistant at Regional Research Station, Tura, Meghalaya, in 1985. He held independent charge of two Research Stations at Tura - the Regional Research Station, Ganolgre, at an altitude of 600 m above MSL and the High Altitude Research Station, Darechigre, situated at an altitude of 2,000 m above MSL - for more than two years (1985-87). After four-and-a-half years of meritorious service in the North-East, he was transferred and posted to the Rubber Breeding Sub-Station at Paraliar, Kanyakumari District, in 1989, and has been holding independent charge of the Station since then.
