"If you are not at the table,you are on the menu."This adage is never more meaningful than when applied to government regulation and rulemaking,according to two speakers at the Clemson University Tire Industry Conference.Only by being proactive in government issues and establishing working relationships with government officials can the tire industry hope to win trust and obtain laws and regulations it can live with,according to Tracey Norberg,senior vice president and deputy general counsel for the Rubber Manufacturers Association,and Michael Wichhusen,director of industry standards and government relations for Michelin North America Inc.
