The Davis-Standard division of Crompton Corp. claims its Uth GmbH-designed gear extruders reduce scrap and cut costs compared with standard screw extruders. Uth designed its gear extruders about seven years ago, but Davis-Standard has sold them in the U.S. market for only two years.
