Inexperiencde Inuestors Impede Success of Alberta's Tech Sector

Last year I spent about half of my time in Silicon Valley working on a startup. A hot topic at many of the events I went to was the "Startup Genome," research done by a group examining success factors in startups. The key finding after interviewing thousands of startups at various stages of development was that equal effort needs to be placed in all areas of a startup, including funding, technology, business planning, customer acquisition and management team development. Companies that get out of balance are much more likely to fail than companies that maintain a balance.
