This report will discuss the off-label use of indoc-yanine green (ICG) and brilliant blue dyes. There are controversies regarding peeling of the internal limiting membrane in macular surgery. For example, in the surgical management of macular pucker, does epiretinal membrane (ERM) peeling followed by ILM staining and removal improve visual acuity? Issues regarding ILM peeling for macular holes include staining agents, how much ILM should be peeled, visual outcomes, late reopening, and dissociated optic nerve fiber layer findings in the later follow-up.
