It has been 6 years since the first edition of this text. There is one less editor (Famin Chou) for this newer version, but there are 73 additional authors (for a total of 151), 204 more pages, and over 30 new chapters. The strength of this textbook is in the well-written individual chapters by leaders in the field of surgical retina. Most of the chapters have a nice historical perspective and are well referenced. The breadth of material covered in this text is wide, ranging from basic scleral buckling techniques to axial length measurement in silicone-filled eyes.
