Covanta puts plans to Commission

Covanta looks set to become the first company in the waste sector to take advantage of a new planning body designed to speed up the planning process for infrastructure of national importance.The company is to submit applications for two large energy-from-waste incinerators - in Bedfordshire and Merthyr Tydfil - to the Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC) after it starts accepting proposals in March 2010. Covanta has already had its two projects recorded by the IPC which will be assessing their eligibility for the IPC process.
