A 10 km long tunnel in the Himalayas

In Northern India, in the states of Jammu and Kashmir, construction of the new Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Line has started. The Hire crosses a part of the North-western Himalayas. Along this section, the planned single track tunnel T-48 will be built - one of the longest railway tunnels in India. The geological and structural control of topography is a dominant feature of this area.
