Producers, importers, exporters, and consumers of the three major oilseeds and the four major vegetable oils

The present report covers the producers, importers, exporters, and consumers of the three major oilseeds and four vegetable oils during 2013-2014. Data are given in Table 1. Information on oilseeds is confined to soybean, rapeseed and sunflower, while vegetable oils include palm oil as well. Data for less important oils, including cottonseed, peanut, palm kernel, olive and coconut, can be found in the USDA/FAS report: Oilseeds: World market and trade. Table 1 lists 14 major producer countries and regions, including the four major consuming areas (China, EU-27, India, and the US). Soybeans account for over 54% of oilseed production worldwide, followed by rapeseed (14%) and sunflower (8.5%). Thus, 79% of oilseed production comes from these three crops. The remainder (21%) comes primarily from cottonseed, peanut, palm kernel, and copra.
