Breaking with tradition

TECHNOLOGY developments in imaging and data analysis for particle characterisation continue to open up new areas of application for what is essentially a highly sophisticated microscope-based technique.Throughout the manufacturing industry there is a growing demand,to extend particle characterisation beyond the traditional measurement of only size.Now full automation and minimal user interaction mean that image analysis based techniques deliver reliable and reproducible,statistically significant size and shape information,as well as providing microscope-quality images for every particle.Taking the Morphologi G3 as an example,this article looks at recent advances and their implications for further extending the use of this technique,including a new application for foreign particle detection.
