University flies the flag for E.coli DNA

Bacterial DNA can now be used to track the source of pollution in Britain's waterways,according to microbiologists at the University of Lancaster.Dr Keith Jones and colleagues isolated Escherichia coliI DNA from all the likely pollutants of water and used genetic fingerprinting to identify the DNA's unique pattern.
