SETTING LOCALLY applied 'performance standards' to determine whether staff receive pay rises is nicely to involve senior nurses.NHS Employers, which represents employers of health service staff, told Nursing Management that nurse directors and consultant nurses are expected to have a role in the process as part of changes to the national pay system for NHS staff in England.Until now, nurses and most other NHS staff effectively have received automatic wage increases annually in the Agenda for Change system as they move up their pay bands. But fron} this month, they will have to show formally that their performance across a year has been good enough to merit the increments.
