All aboard for the Taieri Gorge Railway Field trip with a difference

Some 130 members and friends of the Mid-Otago branch enjoyed perfect weather for a field trip -with a difference in September.They travelled by the Taieri Gorge Railway, taking advantage of the fine sunny weather for numerous stops at points of interest along the way, where skilled commentators provided insights into the features of interest. The 64 km fromWingatui to Middlemarch, completed in 1891, is part of the Central Otago Railway which originally went through to Clyde. The railway closed in 1990 and this section of line was sold to Dunedin City.
