Shell Appomatox Project in Gulf Gets OK, Second Since Federal Ban Lifted

Deepwater exploration in the Gulf of Mexico got a boost last week as the federal government approved a Royal Dutch Shell plan to drill in five locations. The Shell plan is the second deepwater exploration plan approved in the Gulf since the government lifted a moratorium on deepwater drilling last October. At least six other plans for deepwater Gulf exploration are pending.
