A new blend of Kazakh crude oil is about to enter the Baku-Tbilisi- Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline, which currently pumps around 800,000 b/d of predominantly Azeri Light crude to the Haidar Aliyev terminal on the Turkish Mediterranean coast. Elshad Nassirov, a vice president of Azeri state oil company Socar, which has a 10% stake in BTC, told Nefte Compass on Mar. 7 that BTC was just “days away” from receiving the new stream, which he said was a mixture of different Kazakh crudes and would be shipped to Baku under a deal involving Socar and its Geneva-based marketing arm Socar Trading.
