The study was conducted during 2005-06 in Bagalkot district of Karnataka to find out the adoption behaviour of sunflower growers. A majority (45.00%) of respondents were found to be low level adopters. Adoption of correct practices like land preparation, sowing time, method of sowing and FYM application (66.66, 62.50, 58.33 and 52.50%) followed by time of intercultivation (51.66%) and time of weed control (50.00%) as per the recommendations. The least adoption was weedicide application, pollination work, seed treatment, recommended plant population and soil testing measure (0.00, 10.83, 12.5, 15.00 and 16.66%) respectively. Major problems in adoption of the recommended plant population and soil testing measure (0.00, 10.83, 12.5, 15.00 and 16.66%) respectively. Major problems in adoption of the recommended sunflower production technologies were pest and disease incidence, non-availability of improved varieties, high cost of HYV, lack of extension work at village level, inputs cost is too high and insufficient training programmes.
