SHIPMENTS OF ALUMINUM PRODUCTS TO THE AUTO INDUSTRY IN FISCAL 2002 (April 2002-March 2003)

Shipments of aluminum products to the automotive industry recorded a favorable increase and totaled 1,379,804 tons in the fiscal year 2002, up 12.2 percent from a year ago, according to statistics from the Japan Aluminium Association. Of the total, castings and die castings accounted for nearly 80 percent and came to 1,101,758 tons. Rolled and extruded products totaled 254,243 tons.
