The discovery of concerning levels of clethodim and trifluralin-resistance is driving researchers in their bid to find viable chemical alternatives to popular herbicides for southern Australian cropping systems. Southern Australia is under attack fromgrowing levels of herbicide resistance, according to results from a recent survey carried out by the University of Adelaide and Charles Sturt University. The survey confirmed what is already widely known, that high levels of herbicide resistance in annual ryegrass exist in the region with significant rates of resistance to Group A fop and Group B sulfonylurea herbicides in most areas.
